HOW DID HAILEY AND HER 2 DAUGHTERS STUDY ENGLISH IN HAWAII? Let’s fin out…

Haily, a Hawaii Palms student from South Korea, spent 9 weeks studying in our English Intensive Course. At the same time, her 2 young daughters joined our Kids Program. We sat down with Haily to learn more about their time in Hawaii.

Q1. Why did you decide to study English with your children in Hawaii?

A. I read some reviews online that recommended doing this, and also many of my friends encouraged me to study abroad with my girls. My daughters can study English and also play in nature – go to the beach, go hiking, etc.

Q2. What did you need to think about or prepare before coming to Hawaii to study with your daughters?

A. Nothing special, really. But I was worried that our flight might get canceled and I was also concerned about our PCR test results. So we decided on a family rule: my husband, daughters, and I would isolate and not meet with anyone for two weeks prior to our flight. We were so strict about our family rule that we even pulled our girls out of school for that time. Initially, we had planned to study English in Hawaii back in 2020, but our flight got canceled, rescheduled, then canceled and rescheduled again. In the end, out rip got completely canceled so I’m happy I could come to Hawaii this year and study English with my daughters.

Q3. How did Hawaii Palms match your and your daughters’ English needs?

A. I’ve studied English a lot in Korea, but only at my desk. I didn’t want to study English just to pass a test. Instead, I wanted to be able to speak English more smoothly. Here, Hawaii Palms provided us with a lot of opportunities to speak English. All the teachers are very kind and friendly.  My daughters are also getting the chance to speak a lot of English here.

Q4. Can you tell me what regular day in Hawaii is for you and your daughters?

Our classes are held in the morning, so we usually go to the beach after school. On the weekends, we go to the North Shore, the West coast, etc. We’re really enjoying Hawaii life!

Q5. Do you have a message for anyone thinking about studying abroad with their children?

A. If you want your children to speak English fluently, I recommend you take them abroad. Also, it’s good if parents can speak English with their kids! I know this family trip has been very expensive, but the benefits we can get from it are great. Also, if you have trouble while you’re studying abroad, you can ask and talk to your s language school! Hawaii Palms has helped us a lot, so don’t hesitate to ask. Good luck!

WE CAN’T WAIT TO WELCOME MORE FAMILIES TO HAWAII THIS SUMMER.

PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. ALOHA!!
